I was born in 1955 in Britt, Iowa and grew up on a farm. I graduated from Britt High School in 1973 and went on to attend Iowa State graduating in 1977. I went to law school at the University of Iowa in Iowa City and graduated from there in 1980. For most of the next four years I worked as a legal assistant for the Iowa Court of Appeals at the Statehouse in Des Moines. During that time I began thinking and praying seriously about the priesthood. After making contact with the vocations office of the Archdiocese of Dubuque, I began my seminary studies at St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, Maryland in the fall of 1984. I finished those studies in May of 1988 and was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Kucera on May 28, 1988. My prior assignments include St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, Newman High School in Mason City, St. Joseph’s in Marion, St. James’ in Forest City (with mission of St. Patrick’s - Lake Mills and St. Patrick’s - Buffalo Center), and St. Mary’s in Marshalltown. |
